The Adventurous Project: The Graphic Scores of Austin Englehardt

"We're gonna try something... we're gonna make music. Because it's called playing music - not working music." 

Composer, improviser and visual artist Austin Engelhardt brings together an eclectic group of musicians for an evening of curiosity, collaboration and sonic exploration. His work explores new ways of communicating through sound, notation and shared creative practice, often inviting performers into an active, interpretive relationship with the music. 

Joining him are flutist and sonic artist Maria Zhdanovich, currently studying at the Australian National Academy of Music and known for weaving Western art music traditions with contemporary composition and improvisation; Australian pianist and composer Esmond Choi, whose work bridges research, performance and experimental repertoire; and jazz trumpeter and vocalist Triniti Jazz Canini, an emerging Adelaide musician whose career spans jazz performance, recording projects and collaborations from local stages to New York City. 

Together, these artists create a dynamic musical space where experimentation, improvisation and composition intersect - reminding us that music, at its heart, is meant to be played.
